8 Weeks Ago Today & My Other Thoughts...

It's hard to believe that 8 weeks ago today, we were on a plane headed home from Guatemala City with our beautiful daughter Savannah! The trip home took forever, with our flight delay of 8 hours in Houston, but we finally did make it home! Tuesday, May 22, was our first day together as a family of 4! It is also a reminder to us of God's faithfulness. He is the reason we began our adoption journey way back in November of 2005. He is the One who brought us through all the ups and downs of our adoption process. He is the One who provided all of the finances to make our adoption possible. He is the One who chose Savannah to be our child, before the beginning of time! How awesome is that!! He is the One in complete control over every detail and He is the One who has blessed our family beyond measure. We have 2 beautiful daughters because of Him! God is great and we will praise Him for the rest of our days! Thank you Lord for taking us on such an amazing journey of faith. Thank you for allowing us to have our good days and our bad. Thank you for all of the lessons learned and for using them to make us more like You. Thank you for knowing just what we need and when we need it. Thank you for always being there for us when we need you and even when we think we don't!

Today we took Savannah in to the doctor so she could get her Hep A shot that she hadn't been able to get at her 1 year visit (they had to verify all of her blood work first). She didn't enjoy the shot very much, but the fun part about today was that we got to see how much she's growing! She's still very tiny for her age (13.5 months old), but she now weighs 19 lbs 5 oz (10th %ile) and she is 29.25 inches long (25th %ile)! Her head circumference is only 16.5 inches, so it is extremely small according to the growth charts (it's well below the chart!). But, she's always had a tiny head since birth and it continues to grow consistently so the doctor is not concerned. Savannah has made such amazing progress developmentally in the 8 weeks since we've come home! It is such a wonderful blessing to be able to watch our little princess grow. We are so happy that we got to be there when she started to crawl and we'll get to see her take her first steps! Thank you God for your faithfulness and for Your blessings!

This morning I got an email from my friend Karen, and it turns out that their case was not submitted to the Embassy yesterday for PINK. The Embassy would not accept any cases because they are really backed up, so they told the attorney to come back on Thursday. So, now, we are praying that Abbie's file is submitted (& accepted) to the US Embassy on Thursday so Karen will have PINK next week!

Here are a few more pictures of our smiley girl!

She's growing up! I can't believe 19.5 pounds is that low on the charts. :) Becca is over 2 yrs. and just hit 22 lbs.

I can't believe she's standing and trying to walk too! So much in just 8 weeks.

What a little blessing. :)
