This is the story of our journey of faith to adopt our daughter Savannah from Guatemala. We give all the praise and all the glory to God for His faithfulness in allowing us to bring her home forever in May 2007! We are so thankful for our two beautiful daughters, Mackenzie & Savannah!

12 Weeks Ago Today!!

12 weeks ago today, we brought our beautiful daughter Savannah home from Guatemala! I can hardly believe that she's been home with us now for that long! The funny thing is that I just checked the mail today and we received an envelope from the Dept of Homeland Security. Some of you may remember that we had to be re-fingerprinted back at the end of April because our fingerprints were expiring on May 8 which was before we were allowed to bring Savannah home (our Embassy appt wasn't until May 18). Well, we were praying like crazy that this fingerprint issue would not delay us in bringing Savannah home. We prayed and prayed and prayed, but we never received any word from the Dept of Homeland Security regarding our new fingerprints. Well, 12 weeks after the fact, we just received our notice of approval in the mail today!! How funny is that? Thankfully, the US Embassy in Guatemala did not ask us about our fingerprints expiring, otherwise we could have had some serious problems, especially now that we know our fingerprints hadn't been processed yet!! God is amazing! I am so thankful that He allowed us to bring Savannah home without having to wait any additional time for our new fingerprints to come back approved. Praise God!!

It amazes me that we now have our re-certification (we had to update our home study & get court approval so we can readopt Savannah in our state) and we are approved to adopt again within the next 18 months, then today, we just received our new I171H from the US government. Of course, our I171H was cabled to the Embassy in Guatemala City, but that doesn't mean it can't be transferred somewhere else. What is God up to? Could He be preparing us for another little one in the next year & a half?? Everything that is happening seems to be pointing in that direction, but we will just have to wait & see where God leads us. It is definitely going to take a miracle since my husband, Trevor, is in no way thinking about adopting again in the near future. He loves our 2 girls so much and he is a wonderful father, but he is not ready to dive in again with another adoption. I don't blame him, he is a man and his first thought is "how could we pay for another adoption?" Some days I think I am ready to do it all over again and some days, I think I must be crazy to even consider it. And I really have no idea how we could pay for another adoption which I know is Trevor's main concern. Am I crazy to think that God may be leading us to another child somewhere out there??

Hey, Keely --

Well, you know I'm all kinds of crazy, so maybe you can't listen to my advice (hahaha!), but I will say that you should just keep your heart opening b/c you never know what God has planned. AND I can tell you from experience that a husband's mind can change overnight!!!

Side note -- oh, my, goodness! Miss Savannah has changed so much! She just looks like she is growing a mile a minute, and she is so, so cute! I love seeing pics of the girls together - they are adorable!

No, you are not crazy. I believe if our hearts are open, there is another child waiting for us. And God will make a way even if there seems to be no way. I am so glad things are going so well with your daughter! Blessings to you!

It will be so fun to see what God does in your hearts over the next year. Just keep praying -God just might change Trevor's heart, even before you know it. :)

Tell him it's really no extra expense -you can just roll over your adoption tax credit to a new adoption. :)
