Happy Thanksgiving! 60th Post! And, Exactly 6 Months Home Today!!!

Happy Thanksgiving! My 60th post, and today marks exactly 6 months since we arrived home to the US with Savannah! I can hardly believe she's been home with us for 6 months already and that next Tuesday, she will turn 18 months old! Time has certainly gone by fast since Savannah came home on May 22, life has changed dramatically, but definitely in a good way. We finally feel like a complete family this Thanksgiving...last year at this time, we were wondering when Savannah would come home...little did we know, we would have to wait another 6 months for that day to come, but we are so thankful for God's perfect timing in all of this. He knew exactly the right time to unite us as a family...it was best for Savannah and it was the best time for us. That is a difficult thing to admit, because we all want our children home as quickly as possible and at as young of an age as possible. When we started our adoption, we thought Savannah would be home at 4-6 months of age, but in reality, she came home just 5 days shy of her 1st birthday. That was really hard to deal with at the time...wondering if she would attach & bond well with us and wondering how she would adapt to a new life with us. All of our fears were unfounded because Savannah bonded with us almost instantly, from the day her foster mom gave her to us, she acted as if she'd known us for her entire life!

This Thanksgiving Day, we are just thankful to be a family, to know that God is with us always, and that He will be the One to hold our family together, no matter what may come our way in the future!
