It's hard to believe that 3 weeks ago today...we were in Guatemala City at the US Embassy finalizing our adoption process!! Our time in Guatemala was amazing! We are so thankful that we had a Friday appointment so we had an excuse to stay longer and do a little exploring! We would not trade that time for the world! We were able to bond with our daughter and gain a greater appreciation for what life is like in Guatemala. It is a very beautiful country, but life is very different there than it is in the United States. We are also very happy that we chose to stay in a small bed & breakfast while we were there, rather than staying in one of the large hotels. It was so nice to stay in a home atmosphere and really get to experience a different side of Guatemala. On my visit trip back in October, I made the trip alone and opted to stay at the Marriott. That was the best choice for me at the time and I felt safe in the large hotel, especially since I was by myself with a baby! But, on our pick up trip, my husband was there with me and we decided to try the bed & breakfast! We are so glad that we did! Not only did we save a ton of money, but we also had the most wonderful adventures that we know we would not have had if we had stayed in the hotel district. Thank you so much Adriana & Carla for an awesome stay and for making our time in Guatemala so special and memorable! We love Casa De Luna (www.casadelunabb.com)!
We've been back home with Savannah for about 2 1/2 weeks now and life is great! She has had zero issues adjusting to us and she has bonded so well that you would never know that she hadn't been with us since day 1! We feel so blessed and we have peace in our hearts that God brought Savannah home to us in His perfect timing. During the process, it was hard to understand the reason for our waiting, but now we know that it was all leading up to our forever family day! God had everything perfectly planned out from the beginning and it has truly been perfect! We cannot believe that Savannah is doing so well! She is such a happy baby and brings such joy into our home. Her big sister, Mackenzie, absolutely adores her and always says, "there's my cute little sister, Savannah!"
Here are a couple of pictures of our girls together!!
